EpiPen and heat: storage and temperature

EpiPen and heat: storage and temperature

An EpiPen only protects you if the adrenaline inside is in good condition. Temperature is the main factor you can control.

1. The right temperature

Adrenaline auto-injectors are stored at room temperature — check the range on your leaflet, usually around 15–25 °C. Do not refrigerate or freeze them.

2. Summer, heatwaves and cars

Direct sun, a parked car or a beach bag can quickly exceed that range. Keep the pen on you, in the shade, in an insulated EpiPen case that slows down outside temperature changes.

3. Winter and cold

On the ski slopes or in winter, keep the pen close to your body, inside a jacket, rather than in an outside pocket.

4. Check the window

Look regularly through the viewing window: the solution should be clear. If it is cloudy or discoloured, or the pen is expired, ask your pharmacist for a replacement.

5. Choose a case that fits two pens

Our black case holds two auto-injectors in a discreet format that slips into a handbag or backpack.
